My Hero, My Dad, David Martin

Autumn here….
Recently, my dad, David, has been experiencing excruciating migraines. They got so bad on Sunday that it was causing him to profusely vomit. Dad called and asked me to take him to the emergency room. Red flag for me! That man never requests to go to the doctor, let alone the ER.
Once we arrived at the ER, they quickly got him back to do a CT scan. Shortly after, they came back with some very unexpected and unsettling news. Dad has a large mass on one side of his brain. It’s smaller than a tennis ball, but larger than a golf ball. Huge for your brain if you consider the size of an average adult brain! From here, there wasn’t many options. He had to be airlifted to a bigger, more suitable hospital for this large mass.
Once he was settled into Emory, they did a follow up CT scan as well as an MRI and several blood panels.
We don’t have many answers yet, but it is believed to be a classic cancerous tumor. The next step is surgery. During the surgery they will remove as much of the mass as they safely can. Whatever they cannot safely remove of the tumor will hopefully be tackled by chemo and radiation. The only good part about this is that it has not spread, it is stationary to one spot on his brain. Praise for that!
His surgery will be taking place Thursday morning. After, he will spend a couple of days in the intensive care unit before being moved to the neurological floor of the hospital.
The upcoming weeks for dad is very unknown. Because of this, he could be out of work for several weeks. Not to mention the mound of hospital bills that have already started coming in.
I ask kindly that you consider donating anything for my dad. I know times are tough and money is tight, so even a prayer or kind words would mean the world to my dad and to me.
Those of you that know my dad knows he would never ask for help from anyone. He will give you his last dime and the shirt off his back with no question. He is the most selfless person I know.
Thank you so much for reading this and thinking of my dad. I will post updates as they come.

So much love, Autumn.
