Before the war, my hands were everything to me. They painted, created, and gave shape to my dreams. Through art, I tried to transform pain into beauty and hold onto hope.

Today, those same hands shake from trauma.

My name is Ahmed. I am a young visual artist and student from Gaza, and the war has taken almost everything from me. My home was destroyed. My paintings, my art supplies, and years of my personal work were lost beneath the rubble and fire.

But the deepest damage has been inside my own body and mind.

I am now suffering from severe trauma-induced Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and ongoing physical collapse caused by prolonged fear, extreme stress, and repeated trauma. My body feels trapped in a constant state of survival. My health is rapidly worsening, and the trembling in my hands has made it painfully difficult to ever draw or paint again.

To make matters worse, I am entirely alone. My family managed to escape to Egypt under very difficult circumstances: my mother, my ill father, my aunt who is battling cancer, and my three sisters. I am the one left behind in Gaza, separated from the people I love most, watching my health decline day by day.

I am not asking for luxury. I am not asking for comfort. I am asking for a chance to heal.

I desperately need help evacuating so I can reach Italy, where I hope to find safety, specialized medical care, and the possibility of rebuilding my life with dignity. I need treatment for my body and my shattered nerves. I want to recover from the trauma that has overwhelmed me so I can eventually reunite with my family and begin again.

I still carry one small, fragile hope: that one day my hands will be steady enough to hold a brush again, and that I will paint not destruction, but the beginning of a new life.
