One of my family members is in a unique situation and in need of financial assistance. My great-niece, Emily, (but she’s more like a daughter to me) was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma postpartum. She opted not to undergo any further testing and treatment while pregnant and welcomed her second healthy baby boy on my birthday back in November. So, now, with a very active 3 year old, a 3 month old baby and a bonus 9 year old son from her husband’s previous marriage, she is undergoing chemo and facing massive medical bills from the pregnancy, delivery of the baby, and the cancer treatments. Her husband is an independent truck driver and has been unable to get back on the road since the birth of their child, so income is an issue at present. Budget cuts have meant pulling the 3 year old out of preschool and a recent car repair was a huge setback and meant more stress and financial burden for the family.
