From Heartbreak to Hope: Rebuilding Betty and Gailen’s home

Donation protected
My name is Kayla Moore, granddaughter of Betty Good and Gailen Good. I have pondered on this for a while now, and have decided to turn to our family, friends, and community as I am unsure what else I can do. I am reaching out to share the unfortunate circumstances my grandparents, have been facing. I feel compelled to reach out to my community and share their tragic story.

My grandparents have fallen victim to devastating home fraud, leaving them without a kitchen for the past eight months. They hired an individual who agreed to mentor my brother’s newly growing licensed construction business, who falsely claimed to be a long-term licensed contractor.

They were close to fully owning their home. They took out a substantial home loan from their bank and paid the agreed upon amount. However, after the last payment made, said “contractor” never came back to finish, the remodel was left incomplete, and the money was drained so they cannot purchase the materials to finish, as they continue to live in an unfinished home.

Gailen and Betty are pursuing legal action but are encountering many challenges in finding the right direction.

On February 23rd, 2024, my grandparents were informed by Marshall County building commissioner, that the existing remodel is deemed as condemned due to the foundation not meeting code. So not only left unfinished but possibly facing total tear down and restart.

We are desperately reaching out for your help and support. This situation involves not just stolen money and unfinished work but also having to completely tear down and requiring them to pay for it all again.

The impact of this fraud has been profound. My hardworking grandparents now find themselves in a challenging situation, living without basic amenities like a fully equipped kitchen to prepare meals and gather as a family. They were unable to host our annual family Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter at their home.

Despite these challenges, my grandparents have shown incredible resilience, remaining strong pillars of our family. However, the financial burden and the unknown of rebuilding their home is daunting.

I have set up this GoFundMe campaign to gather support and help my grandparents, Betty and Gailen Good, regain a sense of normalcy. The funds raised will go towards rebuilding their kitchen and restoring their home to a safe and comfortable environment.

Every contribution, regardless of size, will make a meaningful difference in their lives. Your support will not only help restore their physical space but also uplift their spirits during this challenging time.

Please consider donating and sharing this campaign with your friends and family. Your kindness and generosity will be FOREVER appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for supporting my grandparents in rebuilding their home.
