Mi nombre es Denisse Johnstone, y he iniciado esta recaudación de fondos en honor a mi querida abuela, Mercedes Moyano Nuñez, quien falleció en 2023. Ella nació en 1944 en Chile y más tarde se mudó a Suecia para ayudar a mis padres a cuidar de nosotros, sus nietos.

Pero se convirtió en mucho más que eso. Ella fue la mujer que me crió — mi luz y mi guía a lo largo de la vida. Y cuando enfermó de fibrosis pulmonar, yo me convertí en su consuelo, tal como ella siempre lo había sido para mí.

Hoy en día, mi abuela descansa sin una lápida. No deseo nada más que poder darle un lugar digno de descanso — un sitio donde nosotros, su familia y sus nietos, podamos visitarla, recordarla y llorarla.

El costo de la lápida es de 16.700 SEK (aproximadamente 1.553 USD / 1.436 EUR). He intentado recaudar el dinero dentro de la familia, pero muchos de nuestros parientes viven en la pobreza en Chile y lamentablemente no pueden contribuir. Por eso ahora recurro a ustedes — personas de buen corazón — con la esperanza de que juntos podamos hacerlo posible.

Hi,

My name is Denisse Johnstone, and I’m starting this fundraiser to honor my beloved grandmother, Mercedes Moyano Nuñez, who passed away in 2023. She was born in 1944 in Chile and later moved to Sweden to help my parents take care of us grandchildren.

But she became much more than that. She was the woman who raised me — my guiding light throughout life. And when she became ill with lung fibrosis, I became her source of comfort, just as she had always been mine.

Today, my grandmother rests without a headstone. I want nothing more than to give her a dignified resting place — a place where we, her family and grandchildren, can visit, remember, and grieve.

The cost of the headstone is 16,700 SEK( (around 1 553 USD / 1 436 EUR). I’ve tried to raise the money within the family, but many of our relatives live in poverty in Chile and are sadly unable to contribute. That’s why I’m now turning to you — kind-hearted strangers — in the hope that together we can make this possible.
