If joy were a currency, my friend Sujan Bhujel would be the richest 19-year-old I know. Since he was nine, Sujan has been bringing music, kindness, and laughter into my life – and into the lives of everyone around him. Music is his heartbeat, his passion, and his gift to the world. You can get a glimpse of his talent here:

But like many young artists, Sujan’s dreams need a practical foundation. His parents have encouraged him to pursue a field where he can support himself while continuing to grow as a musician – and Sujan has taken this to heart.
Recently, Sujan received an offer to study the Diploma of Community Services (Case Management) at the Australian National Institute of Education (ANIE) in Sydney, Australia. His revised Offer Letter confirms a new program start date of January 5, 2026, with orientation on January 2, 2026.
This program aligns beautifully with who Sujan is: a young person dedicated to helping others, spreading joy, and building a better future – not just for himself, but for his community.

WHY I’M ASKING FOR YOUR HELP
Sujan had hoped to begin his studies earlier, but like many Nepali families, his family has been navigating slow processes to secure a bank loan using rural family land as collateral. The loan is in progress, but it will not be ready in time to cover the first-year costs needed for Sujan to travel, enroll, and settle safely in Australia.
To keep his dream alive, I am raising funds to support:
• The first tuition and fees installment, due now
• Visa, medical, and related costs
• One-way airfare from Kathmandu to Sydney
• Four months of accommodation and living expenses, so Sujan has time to settle in and find part-time work
Once in Australia, Sujan will be able to work up to 24 hours per week on a student visa. Sujan has experience as a Barrista and will soon have his driver's licence. At Sydney’s minimum wage, he should be able, from month 5 onward, to cover his own basic living expenses while he studies and begin saving toward his second-year tuition.

HOW MUCH WE NEED
I am seeking to raise CAD 25,000 (approximately) to cover the following:
• ANIE Installment 1 – tuition, materials, enrolment fee, and overseas student health cover (OSHC) - AUD 16,237 (about CAD 15,000)
• Medical exam, biometrics, and vaccinations - Approx. AUD 650 (about CAD 600)
• Australian student visa application - Approx. AUD 2,000 (about CAD 1,850)
• One-way airfare from Kathmandu to Sydney - Approx. AUD 1,100 (about CAD 1,000)
• Shared accommodation for the first 4 months - Approx. AUD 2,400 (about CAD 2,200)
• Living expenses for the first 4 months (food, public transport, utilities, personal essentials) - Approx. AUD 4,000 (about CAD 3,700)
Total: approximately AUD 26,387 / CAD 24,350, rounded to CAD 25,000 for exchange-rate movement and incidental costs.
These figures are based on Sujan’s official ANIE Offer Letter, Australian government guidance, current airfare estimates, and a trusted study-abroad cost guide for Nepali students.

WHY SUJAN WILL SUCCEED
Sujan is more than ready for this adventure.
• He has an overall IELTS score of 6.5, with a 7.0 in Reading – a very strong foundation for success in an English-speaking learning environment.
• He has been accepted into a program that fits his values: community service, supporting people who need help.
• His family is doing everything they can to secure a bank loan – your contribution helps bridge the gap between their efforts and what is needed right now.
Sujan is a wonderful human being who will continue to bring joy to others through his music and his chosen vocation of community service. By helping him reach Sydney, you are not only supporting one young man; you are investing in a future community worker, artist, and leader.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why is Sujan studying in Australia instead of Nepal or Canada?
Sujan originally planned to study in Canada, where I could offer him accommodation and support. However, recent changes significantly reduced student visa approvals, making it very difficult for Nepali students to enter Canada.
Australia currently provides a more stable pathway for Nepali students, with clearer visa processing timelines and strong demand for trained community service professionals. Sujan was accepted into the Diploma of Community Services at the Australian National Institute of Education (ANIE), and his course begins January 5, 2026.

Why community service?
Sujan is someone who naturally brings joy, empathy, and support to others. Community services is an excellent fit for his values — helping individuals and families through difficult times, supporting vulnerable groups, and contributing meaningfully to society while he continues his musical journey.

Is ANIE a legitimate institution?
Yes. ANIE is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 41160) and a CRICOS-approved provider (03682M) for international students. Sujan has received an official Offer Letter confirming his enrolment, start date, fees, and health insurance.

• First tuition installment (due now)
• Enrolment and materials fees
• Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
• Visa and medical exam fees
• One-way airfare from Kathmandu to Sydney

How will funds be managed?
Funds will be withdrawn by me (Sheri) and paid directly on Sujan’s behalf for:
• Tuition and fees to ANIE
• Visa and medical expenses
• Airline ticket purchase
• Rent and basic settlement costs in Australia
All major payments (tuition, visa, airfare, accommodation) will be documented and shared in campaign updates.

Will Sujan be able to support himself once he arrives in Australia?
Yes. International students in Australia can work up to 24 hours per week. Based on Sydney's minimum wage, Sujan should earn enough to cover his own living expenses from month 5 onward, once he is settled.
The first four months are the hardest — this fundraiser bridges that vulnerable period.
