My Friend is Dying, Anything Helps

Hello, my name is Rosario and I'm a local artist and bike technician in my town. For the last few months at the gas station near my home, where I spend a lot of time. This lovely gentleman, nicknamed Shorty, offered me kindness during a very awful time, despite his circumstances.

He is dying.

He is unable to get medication, and medical attention that he desperately needs. He has nowhere to refrigerate insulin. His legs are swollen from untreated infection and Lymphedema. He is a cancer survivor and this is how he is treated. This is no second chance at life.

I've gotten him new shoes, repaired a bike for him to sell, celebrated with joints when things were going well! And then, it all goes to shit again.

I took him to the hospital last week, they did nothing. Didn't even help him get cleaned up, just sent him on his way with a 24 page packet saying he was dying.

Everything he had saved up was stolen a few weeks ago outside of the gas station, and he hasn't been able to recover. One of the kindest most positive people I have had the pleasure of knowing is giving up. He has been so kind as to ask me how I'M doing despite his circumstances, being a shoulder to lean on when he has no support of his own. He helps the staff, at the gas station and has become a good friend to everyone there.

We all want to see him get better, but with the way things are, there is only so much we can do.

Thats where you come in. Anything at all helps, even a single dollar. If we can just get him into a hotel room for a week, or even a few weeks, and be able to get him some food and better clothes, just being able to stay clean and elevate his legs might make a world of difference. The LEAST I can do for him is not let him die alone outside.
