My friend had a stroke. Help me help her and her husband

Hello. I’m not going to introduce myself because I don’t matter in this message. Kymmee and David Beiger do.

On Sunday, July 13th, at sometime around 8pm, David woke up next to his wife who was seizing and making noises that terrified him. He got her onto her side and noticed that there was blood coming out of her mouth. He immediately called 911, and when they arrived, they took Kymmee to the ER. This is all happening fast, and David is alone while he waits to find out what is happening to his wife. Turns out, she had a stroke that led to a brain bleed. This was the first night of four days in the ICU and one day on the Stroke unit at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, MO.

Before she was released to go home on July 18, Kymmee would have:
• 3 CTs - all showing a brain bleed that never grew in size but didn’t shrink either,
• an echo of her heart because of an unexpected bradycardic event where Kymmee’s heart and breathing stopped and then remained irregular for a period of time. She was attached to an external defibrillator for a few hours, and
• an MRI.

This couple is among the best people I know. They give their time, attention, and support in so many ways to those that they call phamily. This is a request for assistance because they need the time and the finances for Kymmee to recover without being forced to make more sacrifices than they already do.

Kymmee is incredibly lucky to have survived with no significant loss of mobility or brain function. She was only in the hospital for just over 5 days and left with PT flash cards to do at home and not being transferred to a recovery facility. Those of us that love her are so thankful she’s healing already.

And while she’s healing, she is no longer able to work. Our employer is good; we get Family & Medical Leave, which means that Kymmee’s job is safe for her, but her leave is only as good as the number of sick days she’s accumulated. However, this is compounded because Kymmee is the sole earner in her household, and David is struggling with his own limitations due to COPD.

Any funds raised will go to medical and monthly bills while Kymmee is recovering at home. Anything helps, even just sharing this message.
