My Friend Dwayne's Leukemia Journey
Donation protected
I want to tell you about my friend Dwayne. Some of you know, some of you might not be aware, but in March 2016 he was diagnosed with CML (Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia).
Treatment at first was simple as it was chemo based and in pill form. The first couple of months of treatment seemed to be working and the symptoms of the leukemia where subsiding with some minor side effects. Unfortunately, this drug started to affect his platelet counts in his blood and he was forced to switch to another medication. After switching to other medication, it adversely affected not only his platelet counts but his hemoglobin as well. This put him in a bit of a tailspin corresponding with multiple transfusions of blood and platelets over the last couple months.
He is currently at Sarah Cannon Cancer Center in Nashville. After a second bone marrow biopsy, it has been determined that the CML has moved into another phase which is called ALL (Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia). The cure for this is going to be a series of serious chemo treatments leading up to a bone marrow transplant.
Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers as he takes this journey to recovery. It will be a recovery because with his faith and tenacity along with our prayers and support, he will beat this!!! He will be in the hospital for the next 4-5 weeks and is in room 3307 if you want to drop by and say hello to him. I have set this go fund me account for him, to go directly to and for him, as to help with this enormous expense. I personally want to thank any of you who choose to help him in this fight and may God bless you and him.
