Sheltered in place recovering from COVID-19

Cassie graduated from UTC in 2019 with a Biochemistry Degree and has been traveling abroad ever since. She was exposed to someone who had COVID-19 and a few days later came down with symptoms herself. She has been sick for 12 days and is isolated in a private room in a hostel. Her symptoms ease off and then worsen. Tonight she sent me a message telling me how horrible she feels, that she’s started spitting up droplets of blood, and said her body is getting tired of fighting. She gave me specific information of who to get into touch with in case I don’t hear from her in 24 hours. She’s in desperate need of medical treatment, but the hospitals where she is are full. She doesn’t have money to pay to be transported back to the US or quarantined through the US embassy. The cost is over $500 per night when quarantined and doesn’t include tests and medical treatment and she simply doesn’t have that kind of money. If she were Croatian, medical treatment would be free, but since she’s a U.S. citizen she has to pay the full price and won’t be allowed to leave the country until the medical bills are paid. This woman is one of the most intelligent people I know. Her and I have helped each other through many things and she deserves the world! She has tutored me and two of my kids. She feels like a part of our family. Please find it in you to help her afford the treatment she needs !
