Help our friend to heat a refugee house in Lviv
Donation protected
Hi dear Friends, the situation is quite difficult. I'm writing on behalf of our friend, Alina, who lives near Lviv in Ukraine. She, with her children and with others dislocated by war, stays just outside Lviv and urgently needs an ELECTRICITY/POWER GENERATOR TO HEAT the place they live in as there is no power station working at the moment. Putin's regime has been targeting power stations for quite some time now. Alina and her children moved from Odessa because it was too cold and dark in their previous accommodation. She and others have also spent all their savings on wood already.
I have known Alina for years. We met when we studied in Krakow and lived in a university hall together. After that, she moved back to Ukraine, married her lovely husband, and supported him in his service to the community as he is a Greek Orthodox priest. I moved to the UK as a psychotherapist. They have three children; their 19-year-old son is in a military academy. Her 18-year-old daughter studies psychology in Lviv, and the youngest daughter is in online primary school. Alina herself teaches Polish as a second language. Her older son may be called to fight at any time.
As her friends, we all encouraged her to try and cross borders to Poland, but she refused to leave her husband and her older son there.
As you know, the winter in Ukraine is freezing, and it will be much colder. Alina and her children need help urgently, but we, as her small group of friends from the uni hall, Magda, Beata, Angelika, and I, won't be able to help her on our own. We need to buy an electric generator that will also need fuel. Every pound or Euro will count! Please help if you can.
We will be very grateful for any support!
