Hi! My name is Malina Sutton, Houston’s newest 1st grade teacher and this upcoming 2022-2023 school year will be my very first year of having my own classroom! This is a milestone I’ve dreamed of since I was in elementary school myself and knew I wanted to become a teacher. This May I graduated from Texas State University with my degree in Early Childhood Education and I got hired that same month as a 1st grade Self-Contained teacher (I am the students only teacher, all day long), which is the exact position I wanted! In today’s society, as well as schools all around the nation in this time, I believe the classroom should be student’s safe haven when they are away from home. A comforting, interactive, and loving space where they are surrounded by a great role model and things & materials that can make them happy & learning everyday. Learning materials are the very least we can offer to these students who CREATE their own future. I am asking those who are willing and kind enough to further pursue my goals by donating to my first year classroom with supplies, decor, and materials me and my students will use all year long to enhance their learning.
