My First USA senior competition

Hi! My name is Gloria Rosendo. I am an 18 year old martial artist. At the age of 5, 
I was introduced to the karate world and at 15 I began competing at an elite level. I am part of the Shotojuku competition team in Astoria, Queens and have been training with the elite team for over 5 years. Karate has played a big role in my life, shaping me into the person I am today. Through karate, I’ve learned to be confident, disciplined, and ambitious. On February 18 , 2023 I competed in my first USA senior trials (-55 kg kumite division) for a spot on the USA team. After four incredible fights, I was finally able to secure a spot on the USA team as second seed, giving me a chance to represent my country at the North American Cup in Las Vegas, and the Pan American Championships hosted by Costa Rica in May . 
This is my biggest achievement yet, as I have dedicated all my free time to training for this moment. For this, I’ve learned how to balance everyday life as the oldest daughter of 5, a college student, an athlete, and a sensei for my dojo. 
As a team USA member I am training for upcoming competitions but the next two big competitions coming up is Las Vegas in April and Costa Rica in May, these two are important in helping me keep my place on this team.
Unfortunately, competitions as big as these are quite expensive and everything is out of pocket. My mother has always been in my corner, encouraging me to chase my dreams, regardless of the obstacles. Financially however, we realize we can’t do it alone, and this is the reason we’ve created this page. All donations would be appreciated, and they would go to covering the costs of the flights, hotels, and additional trainings. But most importantly, they will go to furthering my dreams, to becoming a prominent female martial artist, for people like me that aren’t always offered these opportunities. Thank you for listening to my words, and even if donation’s aren’t possible, sharing my story is enough.
