My Fight with T-cell Lymphoma cancer
Hello family and friends.
Recently I was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of Cancer (Stage 4 Non Hogkins T-Cell Lymphoma). I had to be placed on a medical leave due to the rapid progression of the cancer and unfortunately a lot of my therapies and treatments needed we are having to pay out of pocket on one income.
Lymphoma is a blood cancer that stats in the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is our bodies natural immune and waste dumping system. When compromised abnormal lymphocytes (white blood cells) mutate and build up in the lymph nodes which if left untreated can progress to different forms of cancer, in my case Lymphoma. The cancer started in my right tonsil and after being misdiagnosed for having strep throat my wife and i sought out an ENT specialist for a 2nd opinion. There they immediately biopsied my tonsil on 6/11/2021 and on 6/15/2021 we received the diagnosis of Non Hogkins T Cell Lymphoma. A PET Scan and Bone marrow biopsy determined the cancer is no longer localized but has spread throughout.
We are currently paying out of pocket medical expenses. Although we have insurance we had to be referred out of network because my Oncologist does not treat that type of cancer. I will be needing a bone Marrow transplant along with 6 cycles of chemotherapy and intermittent vitamin hydration during the course of 5 to 6 months. My out of pocket cost for supplements and proper nutrition during my treatments exceed what we can afford on just one income. We have sought out government assistance with no luck so we have to make the unfortunate decision to ask our family, friends and strangers to help assist us with whatever they can give. We have ESTIMATED the cost to about 5,000 -10,000 in out of pocket medical expenses, traveling and specialists that unfortunately are out of network but medically necessary.
