"My fight is Also Your Fight"

Join me in my fight against my HOA...'Cos my win (or even if I lose) is your win!

When a homeowner falls behind on their Homeowners Association (HOA) dues, the punishment is brutal. It’s like being held captive in a hostage situation. You can’t get out unless you pay “the ransom”. First, the HOA traps you with late fees, interest charges, and penalties. Then when it’s handed over to the Professionals (the HOA’s retained law firm for collection), more charges are piled up (some of which might not even be fair or legit-it’s known that many law firms operate dishonestly). They figure you’ll pay “the ransom” or risk losing your home to foreclosure. Even if you won’t be able to pay, they’ll get that ransom payment when the court orders your home to be sold. So, either way they win. This is what’s happening to a friend of mine facing foreclosure. I’m helping her as she fights this injustice Pro Se. She can’t afford legal representation, and she’s also not eligible to receive pro bono assistance. So, she’s left with no choice but either fight back as Pro Se or surrender to the situation.

In my case, I am the one taking legal action against our HOA, and the main reason behind is my quest for answers. I want to know: If the tables were turned, and the HOA failed to fulfill its responsibilities or mishandled HOA funds, what consequence would they face? How are homeowners compensated for the HOA’s failure?

The funds raised through this campaign will provide me with access to additional resources. These extra funds will allow for additional hours of consultation with legal experts to guide me in crafting my arguments. Additionally, I will allocate a portion of the funds to consult experts regarding my friend’s foreclosure battle with her HOA. Any remaining funds will be used to research creation of a nonprofit organization supporting Pro Se litigants. My experience as a Pro Se litigant has revealed limitations of such support, and I aim to address this issue through the establishment of a nonprofit.
