My fight against Stage 3 Rectal Cancer

Hello my name is Veronica, I was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 rectal cancer.

I would like to start this fund raiser to help alleviate expenses that are bound to come up as i fight this disease. As I undergo treatment I’m currently unable to work due to symptoms that have been causing me issues in my daily life for years.

On June 1st, 2023 I underwent a colonoscopy and received my diagnosis. Ever since that day everything has been so fast paced and chaotic. I got a referral to see a surgeon in Seattle which is 2 1/2 hours away from my home.

Fortunately I’m able to receive radiation and chemotherapy treatments here in Yakima which has been very helpful.

I receive treatment daily at North Star Lodge, but will have to travel frequently to Seattle Virginia Mason Memorial. I’m about to finish radiation and pill form Chemo and will start IV chemotherapy soon for the next four months, then discuss surgery after completing more scans and exams.

This disease has shaken and disrupted my family in so many ways. I’m a wife and mother of two very beautiful babies (13yrs, 7yrs old) they’re my world.

I would like to continue to focus and fight this disease for my family.

A little about me, I’ve spent the last 23 years with the love of my life Michael and hoping for 23+ more. We have two children, our son Lucas just turned 13 this year and our daughter Mia turned 7 both of them are my June babies ❤️ My Junebugs. They’re the reason I fight this battle with everything I have. I need to see the beautiful humans they turn out to be. And I want to grow old and travel with my love. 

 I love the outdoors, this summer we’ve had to stay inside because I’m sick, but any other time I would rather be in the mountains fishing, camping, swimming and most favorite thing of all going huckleberry picking with the family. 

Right now I’m a stay at home mom while I battle this disease. I started being a para educator for the Yakima school district last school year and towards the end I had to resign my position due to my illness. Before that I was a pharmacy technician for IHS and Yakima Valley Farm Workers.
