Mi lucha contra el cáncer de mama

Mi nombre es Griselda, y hoy me animo a compartir mi historia con la esperanza de recibir apoyo en uno de los momentos más difíciles de mi vida.

Hace poco recibí un diagnóstico que cambió mi vida por completo: cáncer de mama. Después de múltiples evaluaciones médicas, estudios de imagen y pruebas de laboratorio, los doctores confirmaron un cáncer maligno en el seno derecho, con receptores de estrógeno positivos.

El 11 de noviembre de este año, fui sometida a una cirugía mayor en la que fue necesario retirarme ambos senos para combatir la enfermedad y proteger mi vida. Ha sido un proceso físico y emocionalmente muy duro, pero lo enfrenté con la fe y la fortaleza de saber que era un paso necesario para seguir adelante.

Ahora comienza una nueva etapa del tratamiento. En los próximos días me colocarán un acceso venoso por donde recibiré quimioterapia, un tratamiento que, según mi médico, constará de al menos 16 sesiones para iniciar. Sé que el camino será largo y exigente, pero estoy dispuesta a luchar con todas mis fuerzas.

Aunque cuento con seguro médico, los gastos que debo cubrir son muy altos. Aún no ha llegado la factura final de la cirugía, pero se estima que mi copago será de aproximadamente $6,000 dólares, sin contar los costos adicionales de la quimioterapia, medicamentos, exámenes médicos y cuidados posteriores.

En este momento, mi mayor deseo es enfocar mis energías en sanar y seguir viviendo, sin que la carga económica se convierta en otro obstáculo más en esta batalla. Por eso, con humildad, hoy pido ayuda.

My name is Griselda, and today I am sharing my story with the hope of receiving support during one of the most difficult moments of my life. Not long ago, I received a diagnosis that completely changed my life: breast cancer. After multiple medical evaluations, diagnostic imaging, and laboratory tests, my doctors confirmed a malignant tumor in my right breast, with estrogen receptor–positive status. On November 11 of this year, I underwent major surgery in which it was necessary to remove both of my breasts as part of my treatment to fight the disease and protect my life. It has been an incredibly difficult process, both physically and emotionally, but I faced it knowing it was a necessary step to keep moving forward.

Now I am entering the next stage of treatment. In the coming days, I will have a venous access port placed through which I will begin chemotherapy. According to my doctor, this treatment will include at least 16 chemotherapy sessions to start. Although I do have health insurance, the out-of-pocket medical expenses are overwhelming. The final bill for my surgery has not yet arrived, and there will be additional costs for chemotherapy, medications, medical tests, and follow-up care. At this time, my greatest wish is to focus all my energy on healing and staying strong, without the added burden of worrying about how to afford these necessary treatments.
