She survived two brain surgeries — but she still isn’t safe.

My fiancée Ashley lives with drug-resistant, uncontrollable seizures that can strike without warning. In 2022, she went through two brain surgeries hoping for relief. She now has an RNS (Responsive Neurostimulation) device implanted in her brain to detect and respond to seizure activity. We held onto hope with everything we had.

But this February, her doctor told us something devastating: she will never get rid of her seizures.

There is no cure waiting. No finish line. Just daily uncertainty.

Seizures don’t schedule themselves. They happen while she’s standing in the kitchen, trying to rest, or simply living her life. And every time, there’s that fear — what if this one is worse? What if no one is there?

All we want is for Ashley to be safe and feel safe.

A seizure alert dog could give her protection we can’t provide every second of the day. These highly trained dogs can sense seizures, give warnings, stay with her during episodes, and help her afterward. More than safety, this dog would give her independence and peace of mind.
