My Fiancé stopped taking her medication to save us money

Hi, my name is Chloé and yesterday I found out my Fiance has been "skipping" her lunch time medication to help "save us money. I've saved us so much already".

In 2023 I accepted an apprenticeship, starting the January of 2024.
In November of 2023, Jas had her first Seizure.

And its been an endless journey of unexpected medical bills, medications, physios, Drs, Specialists, surgeons, emergency room, blood tests, xrays, ultrasounds, CTs, MRIs, infusions, broken down cars, friendship losses and stress, ever since.

When I accepted my apprenticeship, Jas was working full time and we worked out we would be able to afford our bills even if she lost her job, so it was okay if I took it.

However. We did not anticipate that if she lost her job, because she was sick and not the economy- it would be different.

We didnt factor in the possibility of one of us, let alone both of us, needing thousands and thousands of medical expenses within the first 18months of taking on this apprenticeship.

Maybe if that first Neurologist hadnt missed diagnosed her with "anxiety" back in 2023 we would have progressed a lot quicker
But we love Doctors who thinks women are just sooks who need therapy

We have been trying our hardest to get by while also still living a life.

In 2024, my Queen made me the happiest person on the planet and Proposed to me in front of many of our Friends and Family.

So we have been scrimping and scraping even more, ever since.
Many have told us to "elope, have a party later," but forget - the party you all want, is the expensive part!

We have spent a long time trying to decide what to do.
But while we won't ever be able to afford anything fancy, we still want a wedding.
I want to stand up in front of everyone and marry the women of my dreams.
I want my Mum to walk me down the Aisle and to have a first dance and to have our drunk relatives tell embarrassing stories to show how much we mean to them.

Not to mention~I marched and I protested for years for this. Our blood sweat and tears went into making sure our government recognised us and it's time we reap those rewards!

We have almost $5k saved up. Our goal was $10-15k
But its been at a stand still for a while. Its the last savings account we have left.

Absolutely everything we have is going to medical bills and general life bills. We have cut back, we have done garage sales, sold so much on market place.

We are just trying everything.
Hoping to not have use our wedding savings for anything else.

But finding out Jas stopped taking her medication broke me.
So I knew it was time to ask for help.

We spend, at least $100-150 a week on medications alone.

We had to stop searching for a doctor who could give us answers because we can't afford to pay anymore initial consultation fees.
We spent thousands on that Neurologist who missed diagnosed her and set us back a year of recovery and thousands and thousands on bills and "treaments" that did nothing.

We are just really tired and would love to just not have to worry for a little bit about making sure we have enough to pay for medications for a while.

Anything that is donated will go to essential bills and/or our wedding fund.

We are very transparent about that.
So please only donate if you feel that is what you are okay with your money going towards.

Also please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or advice, a doctor who knows what POTs, MCAS, EDS and ASD is, tips on budget weddings,

or if YOU need anything!

If you haven't got the budget to donate but need labour around the house or were planning to purchase household items we might be selling, hit us up!

Anyways,
In the unlikely event you've made it this far,
thanks for coming to my TEdtalk

Not sure what to write to wrap up after telling our whole life to the internet and asking for help for the first time ever hahha
Soo imma just go

Thanks for your time
