My house burned down
Donation protected
Last monday I walked into my house being unrecognizable, the place I called home for almost the past 10 years was gone. My family and I were on a trip to Mexico to visit my grandma as I had been too busy in the past years to visit. We left on Wednesday, June 14th, at 2 am and we were planned to come back Monday, 19th, at around 10 am. As we were sleeping on Sunday, June 18th, I woke up to Irvine Police calling us to evacuate, as our house was on fire. It was personally hard to believe at first, but as the police sent us pictures I was in disbelief. Being unable to see it in-person and being powerless over the situation was the hardest. To change our flight to leave Sunday would end up costing more than 1,000$ to do so. As for the house, the whole kitchen was completely destroyed and with it burned down the upper area where my parent’s bedroom was and the rest of the house was covered in heavy black smoke. It damaged all appliances, furniture, and etc by being melted down due to the intense heat. Unfortunately I had also just had a friend’s, Sean Tsui, 5 octave marimba in the house and had only been there for exactly a week. Fortunately, it seemed to be pushed out by the firefighters when they arrived. Therefore it only received light smoke damage and needs slight repairs to the rosewood keys. All of my parents belongings were burned completely, and for my little sister and I, we need professional services to try to restore any clothing and/or belongings with smoke damage. We have been living at hotels since last monday, and been fortunate enough to receive help from nearby pantries and 2nd hand warehouses to give us free necessities. We all now have some clothing some what we took with us to the trip and from Working Wardrobes. I feel bad for asking for help, but many friends advise me to since I suffered a tragedy. The reason for the fire has not been found yet, and the insurance will only pay to rebuild the house which will take 2 years to and still unsure if we may move back in. Fortunately we were finally able to find an apartment to move in for this Wednesday after much searching and touring. We plan to stay for at least a year, and may move into a house a later time. Any help is greatly appreciated from my family and I. Such funds will help us pay partially for lost belongings, furniture, and any future costs for apartment.
