My name is Alexander Gamero-Garrido, a Venezuelan-American college professor based in California.

My mother, brother and father were very fortunate to survive the powerful earthquakes in Venezuela on June 24, which claimed the lives of thousands, with tens of thousands missing or injured.

My family, while thankfully safe and sound, is displaced.

Their condo collapsed in Playa Grande, La Guaira State, where I lived for years in my childhood.

The building, Residencias Vistamar, is now rubble.

They have my full financial support, but their need now surpasses me, and my own means have limits. The funds would cover temporary housing, primary medical care for my parents who are in their mid 70s, and potentially a relocation outside of Greater Caracas.
