My family is displaced due to a fire

Donation protected
Hi,

This morning my mother, brother & nephew lost everything.

The tenant downstairs left a space heater on too close to the bed and when it went up in flames, he threw water an electrical fire.

My nephew would be dead right now if he hadn’t climbed into bed with my mom right before. His bedroom is the one you see on the second floor where the burn marks are.

The apartment had no smoke detectors, and no fire extinguishers.

They had just moved in.

They have been doing their absolute best.

My brother is a single father.

He was supporting the entire household, and recently broke his ankle at work.

Two weeks ago he had surgery, to have his tendon repaired and bone removed from his foot.

They’ve been surviving on workman’s comp and my moms disability check — but PROUD AS HELL, because they’ve been making it work.

AND ITS ALL GONE NOW.

My 4 year old nephew cried because “Santa won’t be able to find him for Christmas.”

The Red Cross gave them $625 and 2 blankets. That’s it. Everything is gone. My brother even left his cellphone behind, and had to be rushed to the hospital because his blood pressure is through the roof, my mom needed breathing treatments and they literally have nowhere to live. My brother will have to take my nephew to a shelter, and he really can’t separate from my mom — he needs her help because he just had surgery.

I am asking for your help.

They have nothing besides the clothes on their back. The house has no windows, no roof and everything is smoke damaged and soaked through.

These are the times where it’s unbelievably hard to be so far away.

They need clothing.

My nephew is a size 6 in clothes and 12 in shoes.

My mom is a size 6 in women’s clothing and 7.5 in shoes.

My brother is in between 34 and 36/32 in pants but really can’t wear jeans because he has a boot on his foot and recovering from surgery. He needs sweatpants and shirts, maybe a size medium or large.

Please let me know how you can help and if there are resources I can reach out to because they have literally nothing. They just paid their security deposit and rent on this apartment.

If anyone has an inexpensive place to live temporarily, they can give you the $625 to get started but they have literally nothing else besides the shirts on their backs.
