My name is Natalie, and I am fundraising to help my family and the close-knit community in the Slipe district of St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, who have been devastated by Hurricane Melissa. My father was born in Jamaica, and my mother's heritage is also from the island, which means roughly 80% of my family lives there. The connections to my homeland run deep, and it breaks my heart to see what they are going through.

The category 5 storm hit with ferocious strength, and while I am relieved to know my loved ones have survived, the reports and various videos I have seen tragically confirm the catastrophic damage. Slipe is a remote but resilient community located very close to Black River, which took the eye of the storm. Many have lost their roofs, and some homes and businesses have been completely destroyed. Everything they have worked for has been wiped away in an instant, and this community is going to need significant help to rebuild.

The funds raised here will be used to fill and ship barrels of essential supplies to help them get back on their feet. These barrels will be packed with everything from toiletries, nappies, and sanitary products to clothing, towels, sheets, and food. For a community facing extensive power outages, we also plan to send solar equipment, such as lights and chargers. If we can raise enough, we will also send building supplies to help repair roofs and rebuild homes, bringing some stability back to their lives.

Every donation, no matter the size, will make a tangible difference. After a disaster like this, even the smallest contribution can be a lifeline. Please help me bring hope and much-needed aid to my family and their neighbours in Slipe.
