Hello! We are Maya and Pema, two senior film majors at Colorado College. We have been co-writing and co-directing short films together since our first year, and are now producing our thesis film.
My Family Are Fish stars Munson, a 40-year-old man whose family have turned to fish. This film takes place on his son’s birthday; a day that forces him to reconcile his family’s former state with their current one. We follow as he tries to relive old memories and reenact traditions that now no longer work in their family structure (because they’re fish). As a way to cope, Munson drinks heavily throughout the day which leads things to spiral out of control, pushing him to come to terms with his reality.
We will use the money we raise to pay for our actor and crew, as well as our location, catering, fish, permits, insurance, festival submissions, film gear, score, and wardrobe.
We appreciate any and all donations and look forward to putting them to use!
