Holiday Turned Nightmare – Emergency Operation, No Insurance
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Jo — and I never thought I’d be writing this.
I came to Turkey with my best friend to clear my head after a difficult breakup… but instead, I suffered a terrible accident. I fell off a high kerb and severely broke my leg and ankle. I needed emergency surgery and had metal plates and pins put in immediately.
The worst part? I didn’t have travel insurance.
The hospital demanded over £14,000 for the operation. After pleading with them, they agreed to go ahead if I paid £5,000 upfront, which I’ve managed to cover with borrowed money. But the costs don’t end there. I still need:
Aftercare and checkups
Medication for pain and infection prevention
Crutches and mobility support
A medical “fit to fly” letter before I’m allowed to return home
I’m sharing this with you because I’m still recovering in hospital, far from home, and honestly — it’s overwhelming. Any contribution, however small, will go directly toward the cost of my recovery, and would mean the world to me.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing my story.
With love and gratitude,
Jo
