Hi, my name is Tania and this is the story of my darling best friend Lucy..
October last year, my bestie Lucy sat me down over breakfast and began to explain to me that she had just received the news that she has breast cancer..
The doctors were incredible, she had appointments immediately and I felt she was in safe hands.
A few months later, we sat over a cup of coffee where she started to update me with her latest news on her treatment.. sadly it was not the good news I was hoping for.
Her cancer had spread to her ribs, lungs, spine, liver and brain.. I can confirm, no one is ever prepared to hear news quite like this.
Meaning her cancer had spread dramatically in only 6/7 months.
My darling Lucy has received 4 cycles of Doxorubicin chemotherapy and 5 cycles of Docetaxel chemotherapy, along with 2 blasts of radiotherapy on her back.
Two weeks ago I received a phone call from Lucy..
The doctors have decided to stop her treatment.
She carried on to explain the reason for this is because her cancer is far too aggressive to be stabilised.
The doctors mentioned, potentially months.
Even writing this down makes me feel sick. My heart aches like I have never felt before.
You hear awful stories about people loosing their loved ones.. however you never really expect it to hit home.
Lucy has brought light into my life for the past 10 years, she is a wonderful friend, an incredible wife & a superwoman to her 2 children Arwen (2) & William (7)
I am so proud of the fight our Lucy has made up until now, her strength inspires me daily.
Therefore I have decided to complete a in gym Olympic triathlon to help raise money for Lucy and her family.. a little something for them to have. I know money can not buy happiness, but it can create beautiful long lasting memories for herself, her children and family.
(disclaimer my gym does not have a swimming pool so therefore I shall row instead of swim)
I will be completing -
1500m row
40km bike cycle
10km run
I have never attempted nor trained for anything like this in my life.. it’s a challenge and it’s going to be tough.
However this will never compare to what my Lucy and millions of other people in the world are currently facing daily. The fight of cancer.
It would mean the world to me for anyone to help raise funds for my dear friend & her family, I can only imagine the pain and heartache they must be feeling.
Together we can help to give them all another memory, something to hold close and smile back on.
My dearest Lucy, this is for you!♥️♥️
