Naomi's Recovery From a Brain Injury.

AUG 30
On August 30th, my beautiful 20-year-old daughter Naomi Moore was in a car wreck that totaled her vehicle.

While she wasn’t visibly injured at the time, she was disoriented and confused. That condition worsened, and within 24 hours, she was in a Roper hospital emergency room. Naomi's blood pressure was critically high. She had a high fever and other complications. The nurses ran diagnostics and moved frantically to stabilize her. She was admitted to the cardiac care floor at Roper Medical Center, and they ran all the tests: Cat, MRI, Spinal Tap, angiography, etc. They quickly realized that she needed to be with MUSC’s Neurology department.

SEPT 1 - OCT 2
The MUSC Neurology team stabilized her blood pressure, oxygen levels, body temperature, and swelling in the right side of her brain. The doctors ran all the tests...again...and more....and more....and more. For weeks, she was plugged into several machines, with monitors all over her brain and limbs. Most recently, they sent her brain biopsy samples to John Hopkins.

TODAY
As of last week, Naomi can walk and talk again, but she has a cognitive and motor deficit. Her long-term memory is ok, but her short-term memory is not. She will forget things you've said to her in minutes. She can't control a phone or follow simple tasks alone. They released her from the hospital this week, and she is slowly getting better, but it will be a long road. Needless to say, Naomi needs someone to attend to her 24 hours per day. Right now, that is me...and my small but mighty team.

FUTURE
Before this tragic event, Naomi had graduated high school, nearly completed Paul Mitchell's cosmetology school and worked full-time in food and bev. She was thriving. Moving forward, she will need to live with me so that I can care for her. I am a full-time traveling musician, and I will need to pay someone to be her caretaker when on tour. We've found a great caretaker who will start helping next week as I head out on a national tour.

>>> WE NEED YOUR HELP NOW <<<
We've put together a modest budget that accounts for:
  • Accommodation with an extra bedroom for Naomi.
  • Caretaker salary for Naomi during my Fall and Winter tours.
  • Various therapists, doctors and prescriptions.

Thanks so much.
