[Mandeville Jamaica] — On March 18,2026, our bright, sweet 3-year-old at the moment now 4 years -old daughter, Khalia Peterkin, suffered a severe eye injury while she was playing with her brother at home.
What began as an ordinary day quickly turned into every parent’s worst nightmare. Khalia was rushed to the Mandeville Hospital, where specialists determined she required emergency surgery to repair structural damage / needs specialized care to save her sight.
Where She Stands Right Now Khalia has already undergone 1 procedure. The surgical team here in Jamaica is unable to help any further. we have been visiting the island specialist at UWI and other private institution but the results are the same
Why We Are Asking for Help as parents, our sole focus is giving Khalia the best possible chance at a full recovery. However, the financial burden is accumulating quickly:
• Out-of-pocket medical expenses and specialist fees
• Specialized medications and medical supplies
• Travel and parking costs for frequent hospital visits
•
How You Can Support Us Any amount you can contribute will go directly toward Khalia’s care and recovery expenses. If you are unable to donate at this time, sharing this fundraiser with your community and keeping Khalia in your thoughts and prayers means the world to us.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, love, and support during this incredibly difficult time.
With gratitude,
Karen and Sean Peterkin (parents)
