My daughter Luna is in the fight of her young life

On Sunday September 13, 2020, our daughter Luna's strength came to light. The discomfort of her swollen abdomen did not hinder our sweet girls energy. It did not dull the shine of her smile. What we initially believed to be constipation worsened in the days prior to our trip to the emergency room. Our attempts to remedy her condition failed and our first trip to the doctor failed to uncover what Luna was suffering through. She never complained and wouldn't be held back. All this strength in the tiny little 2 year old bundle that is Luna. We had no idea what a warrior she would become.
Our worst fear as parents were realized on this day while examining her abdominal area. While massaging her stomach we discovered a moderately sized lump on her right side just below her rib cage. We rushed Luna to emergency where we remained for the next 12 hours before being transported to UNMH for further evaluation. The pain and fear that Luna was experiencing just to have the initial CT scan was emotionally devistating to watch. I can't imagine what was going through her mind when she asked her mother if she had been a bad girl. This must have felt like consequence for something. Multiple attempts to establish an IV in preparation for her first CT scan resulted in multiple blown veins. Multiple attempts to sedate her resulted in the opposite outcome. She experienced a paradoxical reaction to the medication causing an intoxicated state but she was still very much aware. She now has a collection of bruises on both arms and a fear of anyone in scrubs.
The results of Luna's first CT scan revealed 2 solid masses in her liver. We do not know at this time if those solid masses are benign or malignant (cancerous). She will undergo a biopsy on Friday September 18 and we will know more about where our path will lead us on that date.
Luna has 5 siblings that, my fiance, Erica, and I have been away from. Our challenge as a family here forth is ensuring we remain strong and tight knit because we are all in this together. Unfortunately, we will be spending much of our time together through video chat apps but we can only hope we are doing our best.
If you have read up to this point, thank you. We appreciate your audience and the opportunity to make our plea. I have taken sometime off from work to be by my daughters side but won't have PTO remaining after next week. Erica and I have expenses related to child care for our 5 children that we have been away from during this ordeal. We also have our regular monthly expenses. I am going to remain by my daughters side through this and hope that my family doesn't have to go without while I take a leave from work. Those that know me personally know that I am not the type to ask for a handout. I work hard for what I have and it hurts me to be in this situation to ask for help. I want to ensure I can both be with Luna and make sure my family has what I would normally provide. Thank you in advance. - Chris and Erica
