My Daughter Brandi with ALS

Dear Facebook Friends and Family,

This time last year I had started a fundraiser to help with Brandi's care as she had been diagnosed with ALS. She continues her fight and as she remains positive as she can, her harsh reality has certainly taken its toll. She continues to get painful, expensive, and time-consuming treatments to help with what mobility she has left but she is now beginning to lose her ability to talk normally and to swallow at times. The choking is extremely scary for her and it's heartbreaking to know that all of these symptoms will only worsen in the near future. In our last visit to Cedar Sinai, a feeding tube was discussed and prescribed. She has lost the use of her extremities and frequent control of bodily functions. Her neck muscles have weakened so much that she can barely hold her head up. The state and the ALS foundation have been helpful but her case is still tied up in so much red tape that the funds that we did have are gone and we are struggling to keep up with everyday expenses. We pray that this will somehow get resolved before it's too late to be of any help. We have had to pay for caregiving and transportation out of pocket. Unfortunately, this is directly affecting her quality of life that she has left. We are in need of your help. It is inevitable that she will need 24/7 care soon whether it be here at home or in a facility. This too, will be an enormous expense. To add to our struggle, the house we are currently boarding at in Norco, Ca is being sold. We know many of you have your own struggles with health issues and financial burdens, If you could just keep her in your prayers and share our story, it would be greatly appreciated. Maybe there are ALS sponsors that we are unaware of. If anyone has any information where we might get additional help, your input will be greatly appreciated.
