My Dad's Fight: Overcoming Roadwork Injuries
Donation protected
On April 23rd around 6:45am, as my father was performing his end-of-shift duties, he was struck by a dump truck while working road construction. He suffered several broken ribs and a deep vertical laceration from knee to ankle that nearly required amputation. Thankfully, we were able to avoid that. He spent over a month in the hospital fighting for his life as he caught a severe case of pneumonia and had to be put on oxygen. There were several close calls. He's been working hard towards healing via rehab and was able to come home a few weeks ago.
However he's too prideful to ask for assistance, and while the company he works for—for nearly 25 years—has been great to us, his medical insurance will be running out soon, and workman's comp has denied or refused several of his bills, among other things he needs. Anything that's on your heart to give would be a great help and alleviate some of the stress on my mom and dad of figuring out how to pay for things going forward. I, of course, help out as much as I can, but there are a lot of expenses that will be our new normal going forward.
