My Dad's Death Expenses
Donativo protegido
Hi. My name is Kelly. I am an only child. And I am a bit overwhelmed. The Sandusky police called me today to tell me my dad had died. He was a non-functioning alcoholic that lived in public housing. He was 59 years old but he looked (and probably felt) 79. He hadn't had a job since 1995. He lost his job with ODOT because he came to work drunk too many times. He lived off my grandmother and then off of his inheritance from my grandmother. When that money ran out he lived in a homeless shelter before making it into public housing. He owed my mother 9 years worth of child support and the state somehow was able to eventually get his all of his social security and send it to my mom. It goes without saying, he wasn't a great dad. I tried. But he didn't. His alcohol was more important than anything. So now, here I am with no extra money to take care of this. And no money from life insurance or anything to help me. I loved my dad. I have great memories of him from when I was little. I would like to have him cremated and to sprinkle his ashes in Lake Erie, and on my grandparents' and my mom's graves. Just having a body cremated is crazy expensive. I'd also like to put a small obituary in the Plain Dealer. And i'm going to need to rent a uhaul and take a couple days off work to clean out his apartment.
