My dad is going to a boot camp for the blind this summer! It’s a great opportunity for him. He’s been diagnosed for decades now with an eye disease that runs in the family. His vision has deteriorated slowly over the years and the boot camp he is attending helps build skills to live as a blind person in a seeing world :)

My hope for him is that he’ll be able to attend this bootcamp without worrying so much about money. His career options have been incredibly limited due to the disease, and making ends meet continues to become more difficult, so he plans to work through the 6-10 months he’s at bootcamp.

An important part of learning to live with blindness (as he was told at pre orientation) is spending time with the other people there, and trying to continue his daily exercise routine. Packing in a full time bootcamp, work, group bonding, and running long distance (his favorite way to exercise while he still can) is a lot! I just want to show him I love him and he has support! My goal for this is his fiscal comfort while he’s learning to live differently.
