My Dad’s (Brad’s) Battle With An Unknown Illness

Hi, my name is Chelsea and I’m reaching out to loving family, friends, neighbors, colleagues, and other caring individuals.

As some of you already know, my father, Brad is fighting an unknown condition and has been unable to work. My dad has been fighting this for over a year and has been in and out of the hospital as a result. He has had every test you can think of with still no answers. He is now on his third hospital at UofM, but has many medical bills due to all of this.

It all started with his gallbladder, which they removed. Shortly after he ended up getting worse and went back into the hospital. From there, with tests and MRI’s, they found a blockage in the liver (note- my dad has never done any drugs and was never a heavy drinker). His blood work is completely off the charts and now he is anemic from whatever is attacking his body. He is in constant pain with headaches, sharp pains, vomiting, night sweats, joint pains, fevers, etc. All he does is sleep because of what is happening to him. It is unbearable to watch. By the time we got to UofM they started testing for different blood cancers, auto immune diseases, etc. He’s had nuclear bone scans, pet scans, CT scans, MRI’s, bone marrow tests- all still with no answers. The doctors are even reaching out to rare specialists for answers.

So unfortunately, due to all of this, his bills are beyond what him and my stepmother can bare. My step mom works as much as she can while being my dads care taker. They had tried to get help from the state, but got denied due to no diagnosis. With that being said, they have to pay for Cobra Insurance since there is no other way. With all the bills coming in plus just trying to cover the regular bills with four kids in college, they are now way over their heads. In addition, there is much more to come since my dad has no diagnosis and continues to get worse daily.

So I am asking anybody who can donate and help please do so, and please share my dad’s story with whoever you know. My parents have done everything and still continue to try for us four kids. With not knowing any other way to help, this is my way of doing so for my father. Anyone who knows him knows he would be the first to help you. Thank you from the bottom my heart.
