Hello everyone, my name is Jowee and I'm creating this GoFundMe for my father.
My dad was diagnosed with Stage 3 Nasopharyngeal Cancer back in March 2015. He underwent surgery, chemotherapy and radiation simultaneously and after about a year and a half of aggressive treatment and fighting, he survived and went into remission. For the following year, he slowly started to heal and recover.
But fast forward to February 2018, my dad went in for a scan and the results showed that he had Stage 4 Metastatic Large Cell Neuroendocrine Cancer primarily in the lungs but had spread to the spine, ribs and lymph nodes. After a year of being cancer-free, my family was devastated to hear the news.
Because we had found the cancer too far along, chemotherapy was our only option. Unfortunately, after just a couple months, the doctors recommended to stop treatment due to the fact that the chemo was ineffective. That left us with no other options. He is now considered a terminal patient and it was suggested we join the hospice care program, which we are now doing. It seems my dad's long fight with cancer is coming to an end.
Since the first diagnosis in 2015, both of my parents had to leave their jobs. My mom became his full time caretaker, causing me to be the primary source of income for our family of 5. We have been able to make ends meet, but rent and bills take up most of our funds.
My dad's last wish is to go back to his hometown in China to see his father again while his health still allows him to travel. The doctors recommended that he goes within the next couple months before his health starts to decline but unfortunately, we don't have the disposable income to do so.
My dad has spent his whole life providing for us. He has always been the type of person who gives without expecting anything back and it truly showed when he struggled to tell us his last wish, knowing that it would be out of reach.
My family and I have never been ones to ask for help, especially financially, so it breaks my heart to say that I can't do this on my own. I haven't been able to do a lot for my dad, but I really want to be able to fulfill his last wish.
It would mean the world to us if we could raise enough money to give him the only thing he has ever asked of us. All proceeds will go towards travel expenses for my parents. My two younger brothers and I would love to join them so we could go as a family, but our priority is reaching the goal for my mom and dad. Any remaining donations will go towards our outstanding medical bills. We would greatly appreciate any help at all. Even just sharing our story helps tremendously.
From the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank you for taking the time to read this and understanding the urgency and importance of this situation.
With love and gratitude,
the Zhen family.
