Raising money to cover expenses incurred during my dad's long convalescence, prior to his death which included out of pocket nursing care.

Our dad was a wonderful human being in our eyes. He was no doubt an exceptional father and grandfather. The description “exceptional” is an understatement. It warmed my heart to hear how much he was loved by people outside of the family.

He was very meticulous with how he took care of his affairs/business, but unfortunately due to early onset of dementia, he was unable to cover everything in reference to how he would be cared for and other expenses that were inclusive of his burial.

When his health started declining, he seem to be aware of his decline. One thing he firmly expressed, in which he was adamant about, was being with family during his convalescence. Although doing so was a task in itself, no one could foretell other expenses that it would take to care for him from home. With that said, the requested goal is not all inclusive, but whatever's given will of great help.

I was very hesitant to initiate the fundraiser.

HE taught his children and grandchildren to face things head on and to be a problem solver and that all losses are not losses. If it had to be done all over again, we wouldn’t think twice in doing it the way we did it even if it meant rearranging life temporarily and being uncomfortable to make him comfortable as he did MANY MANY times for others. We couldn’t imagine having it any other way. It would not sit right to request everything and include every strain. If I had to this for him all over again, a little discomfort financially or otherwise would be bare minimal of what he did for his family. Still, now that he is no longer here, life still continues and life doesn’t give handouts :) i just want to be able to handle the incidentals while making sure financial devastation is not included with grief. Although there was an amount put up with great hesitation, it’s just a number that will help recoup a small amount to assist in getting things back on track. Again, he would have been given the world if I had the world to give. This is the reason why there was really no hesitation or thought that went into cost, time, blood-sweat- tears .
