My dad needs a new leg

When I was in grade six my mother was diagnosed with cancer.  At that time my father was driving a bakery truck in the early morning hours to support our family.  After his route he would go to our parish church parking lot each morning and pray before a cement crucifix that rested on a wall on the perimeter.  He asked God to save his wife. 

One day my mother visited her oncologist and he told her there was no sign of any cancer.  A miracle?  You decide.  To give thanks for the good news, my father brought me to the cross to clean it.  As my father climbed up the four foot wall to approach the cross, he lost his balance.  He quickly held on to the cross to get his balance, but the cross detached from its base and fell with my father off the wall.  I could not believe what I was seeing.  I ran for help as my father was pinned beneath the 600 pound cross.   After that it was a blur.  They took my father in an ambulance and then they flew him to a far away hospital where they amputated his leg.  My mother was gone for weeks to be with my father as he recovered.  My extended family tried to take care of me, my older sister, and my little brother, but it wasn't the same.  We didn't have any money and many nights I went to bed hungry.

Eventually my parents returned home.  It was sad to see my father not be able to do the same things he used to do.  People in my school heard about our problem so they purchased a prosthetic leg for my dad so that he can go back to making a living.  Right now he works making pizzas.  Lately he has missed a lot of work because his leg is irritated by the old prosthetic device.  It does not fit properly anymore and the friction is causing a lot of pain and a wound has formed that is infected. 

We do not have the money for a new device and my father does not have insurance for the same reason.  The wound treatment and fitting for a new prosthetic will cost almost $15,000.  Please help us to get my father well again and working to support our family.
