My Dad Juan Rivera with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer

Hello, my name is Jinamarie Rivera. My dad was dignosed with chronic pancreatitis at the end of July, and we have been keeping it under control until one day the pain got to be too much and he checked himself into the emergency room in December. Many tests were run to determine what was going on,including a biopsy. A small mass was located on his pancreas and we prayed it would be something treatable. Then we got the news. This holiday season, he was diagonosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. In the space of a few months he has lost 40 lbs. This came to shock to us as he was always the healthy one.

A bit of history for our family. My dad has worked since he was a teenager, never giving up. His dream was to be a Limo Driver and he was able to do that for more than 20 years. Covid changed that and he bounced around a bit before he settled as Driver for a major Delivery company. He was doing well and finally we were becoming more stable. My mother has a rare disease that prevents her from working and I am her caregiver as well. We have spent years taking care of her treatments and it has become our routine. My dad has always been the strong one, taking care of us and providing no matter what. Never did we imagine he would get sick. He has rarely ever needed a doctor. The speed in which this happened has left us stunned and unsure what we are going to do.

He will be starting chemotherapy to help fight this and will not give up. Just like with any diagnosis, the cost of medical bills and expenses are starting to add up.
