My dad, Dorman Hughey, with a heart transplant
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Devyn Hughey, and I'm reaching out to share the story of my dad's recent battle with congestive heart failure. Recently, he received the news that he may need a heart transplant, and we're preparing for the journey ahead in Kansas City.
My dad has faced more challenges than most. In the past four years alone, he has endured the loss of both his parents, his brother, our beloved childhood dog, and now, his health has taken a serious downturn. Despite these hardships, he's always been extremely resilient, uplifting, and positive, finding solace in his love for the outdoors, especially with his passion for fishing. He was even the top contender in the Moyak fishing tournament series for multiple years in a row!
However, life has thrown even more obstacles his way. Since the passing of his mom, he’s been without power, unable to afford it amidst our struggles. Additionally, he recently battled a severe stomach ulcer, compounding his health issues and adding to our financial issues.
Due to his declining health, he's no longer able to pursue his passion or continue the construction work that sustained him. Soon, he'll be relying on disability benefits to make ends meet. As much as I wish I could single-handedly support him through this challenging time, I've come to realize that we can't do it alone.
It's never easy to ask for help, but I'm reaching out because I believe in the power of community. If you find it in your heart to contribute, no matter the amount, you'll be making a great tangible difference in my dad's life. Your generosity will help alleviate the financial burden of medical expenses, everyday necessities, and even basic utilities, allowing him to focus on his health and recovery.
Thank you for considering our plea. Your kindness and support mean more to us than words can express. Together, we can help my dad through this difficult chapter and give him hope for a brighter tomorrow.
