My cute 12yr old, knocked off my motorbike at Isle of Man

Hello everyone.

I have never done one of these, and actually it upsets me that i feel the need. I would rather this never happened!

Some of this story might upset people of a sensitive nature, as my 12yr old boy, and myself could easily be dead , as a result of an extremely selfish and horrible person on another motorbike.

Months ago I decided to book a trip to the lovely Isle of Man, for the TT and chose to take my 12 year old, Charlie. He is honestly so sweet, and absolutely deserved to have the time of his life and, for one day, thats exactly what he got.

On the morning of 26th May, I asked charlie what he wanted to do, and before I could give him all the options id thought of, he said "Mountain!". He wanted to experience the mountain section of the TT course. Loads of bikes, one way, everyone sharing the same fun experience, in glorious sunshine, and relative safety despite there being no speed limit.

As we got to the fastest part, the "Mountain mile", a nice long straight stretch of road, i had looked back and there was nobody behind us. Within no time at all, we were hit by a much faster bike on the right side, and we were sent to the tarmac immediately. As I hit the floor I looked up and saw A black bike with black leathers miraculously stay upright and, yes, he rode off into the distance! He left us to slide hundreds of meters along the road(it felt like forever!)
I can't tell you anything about this, other than thinking "when will I stop sliding" once stopped i looked up, and i was in the middle of the road(cars and bikes likely approaching at speeds up to 200mph. I tried to sit up and couldn't, too much pain...I shouted Charlie and got no response! You can imagine my panic!

Somehow, someone had seen us and stopped to help. They quickly reassured me Charlie was nearby and is ok, he's talking! This is so hard to talk about....

Im going to try and keep this shorter...

We were both attended to and taken to hospital where we received the very best care, and by midnight we were discharged back to our hotel.

We spent 2 days in our hotel room, no bike, no swimming, no beach, nothing, trip ruined.

Charlie, despite his broken thumb, and burns, was lovely, he looked after me and helped me in and out if bed etc, with what feels like broken arm, broken ribs, and broken fingers, although initial trays showed no signs of breaks. I had no idea that muscle, ligament damage could be this bad!

3 weeks later im still in pain, and, its ok, because my boy is mostly recovered!

Its a miracle we didnt die that day, and that person would be riding around enjoying his/her trip without a care.

We were legally doing 81mph when we hit the floor, so anything other than sliding in a straight line would have been lights out.

Now, im not asking for sympathy, I made a choice to give my boy a trip of a lifetime, I didnt take him to hurt him, but obviously i regret my choice!

What i am asking anyone who has cared to read the whole story, is please can you help me to help Charlie.

The trip wasn't cheap, and we lost that. Now im back home, and as I am a self employed taxi driver, I am having to work, in so much pain, as I have a car to pay for among the usual bills etc.

I really am worried that Charlie has mental scars from this, he was having the time of his life for one day, then this.

I am asking for help to raise funds to take Charlie, and his lovely brother alfie on holiday. Holidays aren't cheap, and i also lose money by not working, but i really should be taking time to rest also.

No money will be spent on another motorbike, thats a no. Charlie made it clear he will not cope if I got another bike!

I simply want to book a week or so away somewhere warm, with a pool, and a beach, so Charlie can feel good again, and, see that not all people are disgustingly selfish and leave a 12 yr old boy and his dad to potentially die.

I do wonder if the rider that did this will see this campaign, and if you are here, I want you to think about what you did, snd whatever your reasons were, maybe you'd been drinking the day before? Leaving us was not right! Your actions are despicable! If nothing else, maybe help Charlie now by donating something to his mental recovery.

Sorry if some of that sounds angry, but he's my youngest, and he's lovely, he didnt deserve this.

Seriously, I can't express this enough, any help to get us away and put this behind us will be very much appreciated.

Love to all you lovely people who share my thoughts about the other biker.

Oh, and I dont know if this is allowed, but a shout out to the manager of The Comis Hotel, they went above and beyond to help us! Truly grateful so anyone looking to go the the island, I highly recommend The Comis.
