Why we need your help

Hello everyone,

My name is Ausama and I am a Canadian of Palestinian descent (from Gaza) living in Canada. I am trying to raise funds to help my cousin, Samar, and her family, in Gaza.

The situation in Gaza is very dire, and my cousin's situation is particularly difficult. Samar's home was utterly destroyed in the war and she has since fled with her husband and three sons (23, 21, and 19) to south Gaza with almost no belongings.

Like the majority of residents of Gaza, Samar and her family are stuck with nowhere to go, hoping to not be targeted by the now daily airstrikes. There is almost no food in Gaza and the majority of banks in Gaza are not operational which makes it hard to access any funds. This make it particularly difficult to feed a family of five, especially since they have no hope of being able to go anywhere.

How your donation will help

The funds collected will be to support my cousin and her family survive the current situation as they have almost no financial means to do so alone. Any and all donations collected will be sent directly to my cousin through the only operational banks in south Gaza.

To cross the border into Egypt and safety is approximately $5000 USD per person. In the current situation, these are funds that my cousin, and almost no one in Gaza, has access to.

My family and loved ones (and hopefully, you) are attempting to raise as much money as we can to send directly to them in the hopes they can cross the border to safety. We have already sent money to my cousin and her family and even applied to have them come to Canada through IRCC's program. However, there has not yet been a single visa issued through this program and we are not holding our breath.

With the impending ground invasion of Rafah announced by the Israeli military in the next 10 days, the situation is getting more and more desperate and scary.
