Hi, everyone! Thank you for your time.. My cousin Chezka gave birth on March 21, 2021 to her son who is pre-mature at 32 weeks. She was pre-eclamptic & had other complications which led to an unexpected emergency C-Section.
They were preparing for a normal birth, but as mentioned above, they were not prepared for the financial hardship that was to come. In the Philippines, healthcare is mostly on a cash basis despite having health insurance. They even make you pay for your own PPE/mask while staying in the hospital. They will not discharge you if you don’t pay the bill, but praise God, my cousin was able to place a downpayment & will be going home soon while baby boy needs to stay in the NICU to develop more, especially his lungs. However, they still owe half of her 120k peso bill ($2,600) and this does not include baby’s bill (already at $1,300) which is adding up day by day.
There are no social services/social workers who can help them at this hospital for assistance. Manila recently went into a city-wide lockdown due to increasing COVID cases so it has become increasing lot difficult for them to try and get assistance from any government agencies. There is literally no one they can turn to. I’m asking for any help and donation to their medical expenses. Any amount will go a long way!
I just want to ease some of their financial burden & stress so that they can pour their time and energy into their baby who is still in the ICU dealing with multiple complications. We will forever be grateful for your generosity & compassion towards them during this hard season in their life. Most importantly, please surround their family in prayer — physical and emotional healing for my cousin after her rough birthing experience, healing for their baby boy that he would develop without any complications and to her partner JP who is doing his best to provide and be the rock for this new little family of theirs.
