TRICIA BEYER - More than a friend ~ Family

My dear friend whom I consider my sister, Tricia Beyer, suffered a devastating hemorrhagic stroke in 2009 and has been wheelchair bound ever since.  Let me tell you about her.

At the time of her stroke, her two children were doing well and she was finally pursuing a life long dream of being a performer.  She had appeared in plays and musicals in community theaters all across Northern New Jersey, appeared in several independent films and even done background scenes on t.v. and in movies. This was it for her! She was so excited that the possibility of big opportunities were now becoming reality.

The morning of December 9th started out as a positive day. Holiday cookies were already baked, most of the Christmas gifts were ordered and things were going smooth.  As the day went on, Tricia developed a terrible migraine but still had plenty to do. It was about to be her first night assisting a well respected acting coach, a position that would allow her access to meet and audition for numerous casting directors and agents, surely a huge opportunity to advance her career.

Unfortunately, things didn't end the way she hoped because on the way home, she suffered a Hemorrhagic Stroke; an emergency condition in which a ruptured blood vessel caused bleeding in her brain.  Tricia spent three months in a rehabilitation hospital learning to walk again. Lucky to be alive, she has no use of her left arm. Her left leg barely functions and is twisted with spasticity.

There are a few reasons I've decided to start this fundraiser for Tricia.  First and foremost, she needs it DESPERATELY!  Her father has done a lot of work to try to make her home handicap friendly, but he could  only do so much. Her income is extremely limited and doesn't cover a lot of necessities. She needs an adjustable bed so she could maneuver herself to get in and out of it, not to mention being stuck in one position all night.  She needs a walk-in bathtub or shower so she could independently bathe herself with little assistance.
Tricia needs new bathroom fixtures at handicap level. The floor in the bathroom needs to be leveled and reinforced. She needs a portable motorized wheel chair  that can be put into the trunk of a car without too much trouble.

All of these things and more would help Tricia to live a more independent and productive life.  Please help by donating to this very important cause. I know she would do it for you!

Thanks
