Hello, my name is Tanya Brown-Griffith. I live in Worthing, West Sussex. My Jamaican community in Shrewsbury and Llandilo in the parish of Westmoreland suffered catastrophic damage from Hurricane Melissa. We have families who have lost their homes, cars and livelihoods. Many areas remain without water, electricity and telecommunications with severe food and fuel shortages.
Reports from my sister Kedeen said, "It’s devastating, we lost our roof. It blew right off. Most of the persons in my area lost their roof or most of their homes, food supplies, furniture, cars, animals, it’s a disaster. The schools, businesses, gas stations are so badly damaged and I don’t know when we’ll ever recover. Some people are sitting and crying, some like headless chickens trying to see what they can salvage and many just walking around with suitcases looking confused."
Please donate what you can and I will send to her to purchase and distribute basic supplies- food, clean drinking water, building materials, first aid, clothes, hygiene supplies, bedding etc. as all desperately needed.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this, sharing the story and for any contribution to the support fund.
