Hello!
My name is Lillian, I am a 21 year old university student finishing up my undergraduate degree in philosophy at the University of Ottawa! I recently brought my childhood cat, Nylah, to live with me as she wasn't getting the help she needed at home. Nylah has been in my family for 12 years. My mom rescued her and surprised me with a kitten when I was 9 years old. She has grown up beside me from elementary school to university. She has been and continues to be my emotional support during my most difficult times, especially during the grief of my mother's passing. While it may seem silly, this cat truly means the world to me, and is a link to my mom, who is no longer here. I want to be able to give her a good quality of life and alleviate any pain that she is currently in.
After noticing Nylah having issues with her jaw and having pain while eating, I took her to a vet appointment last week. I was informed that Nylah needs some teeth pulled; she has gingivitis and multiple cavities. The vet advised me that she should get her teeth pulled ASAP, so that it doesn't turn into a potentially fatal condition, especially at her senior age. Thankfully, my roommate works at the clinic and was able to help me get a small discount, However, with my student wages, I am unable to afford the almost 1000$ vet bill that comes along with teeth extractions, on my own. This is also just an estimate, and there is the likelihood of it being more expensive due to her age and any complications that could arise. I'd like to be prepared for any situation, which is why the fundraising goal is a bit higher than the estimate.
All money raised would go directly to her vet bills and any follow-up procedures that she may need. This would include transportation fees (I don't have a car), medication prescribed, and future vet appointments. Any contribution, even just sharing this page, would mean so much.
Thank you for taking the time to read Nylah’s story and for your support,
Lillian Brault
