First step to the rest of my life
At age 6 I knew I wanted to dance, I needed to; I'm not good with my words or speaking but I found myself in the freedom and expression of this art, and it unlocked an instant love. My incredible mum put me in classes after noticing this passion I found (spinning around in my garden throwing shapes ahaha) and in my small city, the cost of the dance classes wasn't an issue. I was greeted by great teaching at a relatively small cost, although the cost (unbeknown to me) was priceless...
I realised quickly this was what I wanted for a career; dancing professionally and turning this into a future.
At 16 I have got into my dream dance academy to make this a reality; The Urdang Academy but I've quickly realised talent and passion aren't all you need to make it in this industry... there are barriers, including financial ones.
The incredible Urdang Academy is where I am attending for the next three years, studying a diploma and progressively a degree in Professional Dance/Musical Theatre but the location of Urdang in London, pushes the finance requirement up further as its not the tuition to fund alone but the cost of living near this incredible school.
I know how hard everyone is struggling at the moment after the terrifying and insane year we’ve all been through; plans have had to be altered, events moved and dreams been abandoned. But if anyone is able to help me a little; even by a pound £1 to achieve mine, I will strive to fight for this and be ever thankful to you.
Ran.
