I have devastating news about my beautiful cat Olaf.

Unfortunately, he has had to have double eye removal surgery.

During the week, Olaf did not seem himself, his eyes did not look right.

After bringing him to an emergency 24 hour vet and then specialist the day after, we were told he has gone blind in both eyes because his retinas have detached. Even though I have got his vaccines and checks up to date, they think that high blood pressure may have been the cause and there was no way to predict this happening. On any of his previous check ups, high blood pressure was never an issue.

I never imagined something like this would happen, we were told he is in agonising pain and that eye removal surgery is the only way forward, as there is no way to save his eyes.

Unfortunately, this procedure, along with tests and medications, came at quite a high cost.

As well as his eyes, he is having mobility issues in his hind legs, that will need some attention after his surgeries, we are told it is most likely arthritis which will be another added cost for treatment.

I adopted Olaf eight years ago from an animal rescue when he was roughly three years old. He has been such an integral part of my life and has gotten me through some very tough times. Anyone that knows me, knows that Olaf is basically my son and I love him very much.

Although I was apprehensive, I have had to make the difficult decision to ask for donations towards Olafs care. (Although, i am very much aware that there are so many other charities and causes that desperately need donations too.)

I was on the fence about creating this with that fact, but was encouraged to, after discussions with friends and family.

There is no pressure to donate, Even a share to your family and friends would be very much appreciated.

I have included pictures of him currently, but also some of him throughout his life with me. I wanted to illustrate what a beautiful little soul he is.

He is such a blessing and I'm so grateful for his presence in my life very single day.
