Hello my name is Jeanette (genie) i am a mother to 3 beautiful boys, and a cat mum too. I am desperately trying to gather the funds in order to save my cats sight and eyes. My cat Moi (pronounced Moy) is an absolute darling 8 year old boy and is the most loving docile affectionate cat. He loves to sit in the garden sun and watch the birds, or sit on the roof of the shed watching the world go by. When hes not doing that hes snuggling and playing with me and the kids or watching cat TV when the weather is too bad to enjoy outside. He is a very loving brother to his sister cats. But last month, due to a blood pressure and thyroid issue he developed, the lenses in both his eyes came loose and traveled to the back of his eyes (posterior lense luxation) causing him pain and inflamation and he's lost his sight in both eyes. He has also developed cataracts in both eyes during the time he was monitored for said issue. So as it stands Moi has gone blind. But the amazing thing is his vision and eyes can be saved. But in order to save his sight and eyes he desperately needs two surgeries, one for the cataracts and one for the luxated lenses. Both of the surgeries would be carried out in the same surgery but it counts as 2 separate surgeries because its two different procedures for 2 separate issues. If I dont find the funds to pay for his surgery then the only other option is to have surgery to remove his eyes (an enucleation) but this procedure is REALLY dangerous for Moi and he can pass away during this surgery due to how severe it is on the body because of his underlying condition it makes this surgery so much more of a risk. It has more complications and risks than the surgery to SAVE his eyes. This surgery to save his eyes (Lensectomy) is specialised and there are only a couple of places in England I can get to that have the surgeons to carry it out. Neither allow payment plans, or anything like that and ive tried absolutely every avenue but all costs must be paid upfront payable upon admission. This surgery is also really successful and would save him from slipping into a life of complete and utter darkness and depression... we love him so much and i can already see hes struggling not being able to go outside alone and watch his little world go by. There is one other option for Moi which would be the absolute last resort and one i dont want to have to think about its euthanasia. (We had his 13 year old sister Morag put to sleep in July and are all still grieving her loss i couldnt bare another) But he is such a sweet happy loving young boy i dont want to end his precious life over money just because I personally couldn't afford to save him its breaking our hearts its so hard to watch. Its a really is a horrible situation for all of us to be in and witness and I've totally ran out of options. I understand Moi is my cat and my responsibility but ive had to turn to the kindness of others out of pure desperation. I am here asking for help after trying every other option known to man and failing.
