While mushroom hunting with a friend her car was broken into and both my camera bag and purse were stolen. We heard strange sounds just a few minutes walk from the car and I believe we missed the thieves by just a few minutes. This happened in broad daylight and plain sight just 40 feet from a highway and took us both deeply by surprise.
This camera bag contained most of my camera gear and represents my passion, my business, and over $10,000.
No, I don’t have insurance. Lesson learned and my new gear will be both insured and have air tags hidden in the gear. I’ve done what I can in reporting the serial numbers on the gear and setting up notifications on seller sites like FB marketplace.
Naturally, I’m devastated and am humbly asking for support in the following ways.
1. Keep an eye out for the gear listed below.
2. Share my gofundme
3. Hire me for camera or video work - you can see my creations at www.wildunfurling.com - by pre-booking a session with me.
I specialize in what some may call “nature boudoir” or embodiment photography. I also love supporting small businesses, taking portraits, couples, family, retreats, and the occasional wedding for the right fit.
Thank you for allowing me to push my comfort zone and receive support in such a big way. To those who know the sting of being stolen from, I feel for you. It’s super icky and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
I won’t let this experience rob me of my ability to trust. I will, however, move with much more awareness in the future.
Main gear that was taken:
Sony A7iii
Sony A7R5
50mm 1.2f GM lens
24mm 1.4f GM lens
GoPro Hero 11 black
National Geographic camera bag
Brown leather backpack with fabric designs
For those who may ask, the car was broken into on the McKenzie hwy near at Cold Water Cove campground pull off. The gear may surface in Bend, Portland, Salem, out of state. Who knows, but please keep an eye out and thank you for the support in the mean time!
