On February 21, 2026, I was working as a photographer at an event at Rho Fiera Milano. During a short moment while I was changing a battery, I placed my camera equipment on a table inside the booth where I was shooting. I turned away for less than 30 seconds—and when I looked back, it was gone.
My main camera, a Sony A7 IV, along with my Sony 24mm f/1.4 GM lens and several accessories mounted on it, was stolen in that moment.
I had actually prepared for situations like this and placed an AirTag inside the equipment. Unfortunately, the tracking was not fast or precise enough at the beginning, and the device moved away quickly before I could react.
I immediately filed a police report and asked the authorities to check the surveillance cameras at the venue. The AirTag continued to show locations, but without immediate action it became very difficult to recover the equipment.
When I saw the location updates, I personally went to the addresses shown by the AirTag and even called the police from there. However, since the signal was inside private homes, the police could not enter without proper authorization.
A week later the AirTag moved again to another location. I went there as well, hoping to recover my equipment, but unfortunately the same situation happened again. Since then, I have continued sending screenshots and location links from the AirTag to the police while waiting for further investigation.
As a photographer who recently moved to Italy to study and rebuild my career, losing my main equipment has been a huge setback. My camera is not just a tool—it is how I work, create, and support myself.
I have documentation of the police report, photos of the stolen equipment, and screenshots of the AirTag locations I tracked myself.
Any support will help me recover from this loss and continue building my life and career here in Italy.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any support you can give.
